Money Savers

SoFi

I recently consolidated our credit card debt, some with a ridiculously high interest rate, with a loan at SoFi.  They offer great interest rates and even a rate reduction for agreeing to auto-pay your monthly payment.  I also enjoy using their user-friendly website and companion app.

The application process itself was very easy and I received only a single phone call to verify my information.  Funds were disbursed into my checking account two days later.

Now my interest rate and monthly debt payment is lower.  Remember my mantra – protect that cash flow!

Capital One 360 Online Savings Account

I use an online savings account to house my sinking funds; those funds where I divert a little money each paycheck to cover annual and semi-annual expenses like renewing car tags and insurance, Christmas spending, etc.

The Capital One 360 service works particularly well for this thanks to a number of features:  create multiple accounts and give them a nickname; create and track savings goals; consolidated statements.

You can read more about how my setup on my post Online Savings Account:  How To Simplify Your Savings Strategy.

Ebates

With Ebates you can earn free cash back for simply following the Ebates link to do your normal online shopping. All you do is click on a store that you want to shop through (they have TONS of stores such as Kohls, REI, Toys R Us, etc.), and shop just like how you normally would. Ebates makes a commission for referring you to the store you just shopped at, and they give you some of that money back as a thank you.

Bonus Offer:  When you sign up through my link, you will receive a free $10 cash back!

American Express Blue Cash Preferred

We have let most of our credit cards go, but one we keep around is the American Express Blue Cash Preferred card, thanks in large part to its generous cash back rewards program on groceries and gas.  In fact, my wife and I keep our cards in a small envelope in our wallets with “G&G” labeled on the outside.

The card does come with a $95 annual fee, but it easily pays for itself after a couple months of just groceries and gas expenses.  We also run big expenses like vacations and semi-annual insurance premiums through the card and pay it off from planned savings.

In 2016 we redeemed $825 in statement credits; enough to fund our annual beach vacation!

Bonus offer: Earn $150 back after you spend $1,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months. You will receive the $150 back in the form of a statement credit.  Learn more about this bonus and Amex’s rewards program.

Side Hustlin’

Aweber

One of my biggest blogging regrets is not starting an email list earlier on.  Visitors to your website come and go, but those who subscribe to your list provide an audience forever.  An audience for new posts, product/affiliate reviews, updates, etc.

Well, at least until they unsubscribe…hopefully, you won’t have that problem!

I’ve been with Aweber now for over a year and can vouch for their service.

If you would like to learn more about email marketing I recommend this free guide.

Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing

If you are a blogger, or online marketer or any kind, I consider this required reading.  I neglected affiliate marketing for most of my blogging career (yes, I left quite a bit of money on the table).

Realizing the error of my ways I sought out a top affiliate marketing course and found this one by Michelle over at Making Sense of Cents.

In my case, the course paid for itself in the first month once I began using the strategies I learned.  Sign up for the course today!

HostGator

I have been blogging for over ten years.  I started out on Blogger’s platform, but soon realized to take my blogs to the next level I had to move to a self-hosted plan.  Thankfully, I found HostGator.

I have never had any bad experiences with HostGator.

In fact, they have helped me out of several jams over the years!

Bonus Offer:  Sign up using my referral link and your first month is just $0.01.  Yep, just one penny!

Flex Offers

Flex Offers has been my top earning affiliate network since joining back in 2008.  I find their suite of reports and performance tracking to be superior to competitive networks.

Flex Offers partners with over 10,000 merchants, including a number of exclusive agreements with top online retailers.

Uber

When I’m not blogging my other favorite side hustle is Uber.  I started driving with Uber in July 2016 and have enjoyed it to this point.

When I drive every weekend I make about $800-$1,000 per month, which I’m hoping will increase now that the Uber app allows tipping.

Bonus Offer:  New drivers can earn up to $1,000 sign up bonus by following this link!

Entertainment

Hulu

At the time of this writing my family has gone over one year without cable.  That doesn’t mean we don’t still watch television, but we have become much more selective about what we watch.

I hated the idea of tossing hundreds of dollars to cable companies each month to watch only a few programs on 300+ channels.

Hulu provides a much cheaper service than cable and let’s us follow any current program we want.

Bonus Offer:  Try it out free for 30 days!
